About Korean Popular Culture
The youth of Korea are heavily involved in the K-Pop phenomenon. This is expressed largely through up-beat rock riffs and ballads; mostly performed by groups, rarely by solo acts. The groups are almost always single-sex with the males appearing quite androgynous to the Western eye, and the girl groups wearing scanty, abbreviated costumes..
Television is almost all variety shows and dramas - with a global following. I have never seen a scripted onlineedy. All revolve around families or (hetero-sexual) couples. Thre is a distinct youth slant with many programs taking place at schools (where the girls wear incredibly short skirts). All animation appears to be designed for the sub-teen audience and is at least partly instructional.
